HS FB F.A.Q.
What do I need to turn in/complete to participate in High School Football?
You need to turn in a Physical Form (if your son had a physical prior to April 1, 2016) and complete Steps 1-4 of the Football Participation Registration.
When does football practice begin?
We hold our team camp from July 17-July 21 for Varsity and JV. Freshmen camp is from July 17-19. Official practices start on July 31st with equipment handout and conditioning testing. August 1st is the first day we can actually start having organized team practices.
What if my son can't participate in Team Camp?
We highly encourage players to do whatever possible to be at our team camp as this is where we install our basic offensive and defensive principles. That being said we also understand that situations arise that keep players from being at team camp. Please let Coach Kowalski know if you will not be able to attend camp.
Does my son need to attend N.A.S.T.I.E. to be part of the football program?
While it’s not required we do ask players to spend as much time in the weight room as a team as possible. It’s what has allowed our program to have recent success. If we want the success to continue we need to be stronger, faster, and bigger than our opponents.
What does my son need for equipment to play football?
Holmen High School will supply your son with a helmet, shoulder pads, game jerseys and pants, practice pants and jerseys, and a mouth guard.
Parents are responsible for girdles, shorts, t-shirts, shoes, gloves, and football cleats. It is suggested to have all players fitted for a mouth guard from a dentist to get optimal fit and protection.
What do I need to do if my son needs to miss practice?
If your son is going to miss practice it is required that Coach Kowalski is contacted via text message, email, or phone call. If contact is not made prior to practice it could cause the player to miss game time. Coach Kowalski’s cell phone number is 608-780-9781 and email is firstname.lastname@example.org
